Ketan Parekh moves SC seeking permission to travel abroad

Parekh has also sought a direction to the Gujarat government to return his passport. "It is absolutely just and necessary in the interest of justice and equity that the petitioner be permitted to visit the UK and the USA... In order to travel outside India it would be necessary for this court to direct return of the petitioner"s passport to him," Parekh said in his petition. He said he had made similar pleas earlier but the period for which permission was prayed had expired. He had been granted permission by every court to travel abroad after he moved applications for the same, Parekh added. A bench headed by Justice V S Sirpurkar sought reply from the Gujarat government and various banks as to why Parekh should not be allowed to travel abroad for treatment of his daughter. The next date of hearing is fixed on October 1.
