Paswan gets move-out notice
Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan has finally been served a notice by the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to vacate the plush bungalow at 15, Janpath. Paswan — as a minister since 2002 —occupied the Type-VIII bungalow near Parliament. But in 2009 elections, his party couldn’t win a single seat. Still, Paswan didn’t show any sign of moving out of the bungalow which served as his residence as well as the party office. As many new MPs are waiting with allotment letters for the current occupants to move out, NMDC finally decided to move out Paswan.

Interest rates likely to move up this year: Kidwai

Sectors which are primarily not dependent on exports and driven by domestic demand, are likely to show revival in the months ahead and may attract more investments, Kidwai said. HSBC, which has been reducing its dependence on unsecured consumer loans in the face of difficult market conditions, has seen a healthy growth in the secured loan portfolio, Kidwai said. The bank did not have any plans to enter into the vehicle finance business and will focus more on the NRI segment in the period ahead, she said. The lender, which acquired leading Indian brokerage IL&FS Investsmart late last year by purchasing a 93.86 per cent stake, today rebranded the brokerage as HSBC InvestDirect.
